Looks good on paper but fortunately football is played on grass.
Can't see Hughton going with 3 at the back.

We have a problem at LB and RB, but have good options at CB. A good manager (even average one like Southgate) would put out a team with 3 at the back, at least until they get the LB/RB positions sorted.
I like Tugger's team for Cov.

Really? Lolley and Colback at wing back?! I mean they will have never played what is already a pretty niche position. 343 is fine if you have full backs or even wingers that easily convert, we just don't right now. A few years ago when we had Cash and Osborn it made sense. Or even last year with Christie and Ribeiro felt like it would work.
However we have no full backs at all!

Still no new full backs in the club and it's Wednesday morning. I'd say unless they arrive today and can train on Thursday, Friday, Saturday then we're going to have to be starting with Bong and Gabriel.
And I'm sure Bong will be fine. He played a few games last year and put in perfectly good appearances. No he might not be the long term solution, but for 4 or 5 games at the beginning of the season I'm sure he'll do OK.
Gabriel is an interesting one. The transfer market stale mate seems to have given him a chance to impress the manager. This time 2 years ago we were incredulous when it appeared that Matty Cash was going to play RB. I'm not saying he's going to be as good as Cashy was, but if he's got anything about him he'll seize the opportunity.

It feels like he's good enough to at least be the backup, would seem like an odd move to consider selling him unless we're expecting to sign two of them.
The Blackett injury has been an issue though, I expect to see Soh play LB personally but who knows.
Only a few games right...

Errr no we are not.
Why the hate for Bong? He is one of our players. OK he is no Stuart Pearce but he's had a very good career, he's played in the PL about 50 times, he's represented his country many times who are no mugs either. His best days are probably gone but can we show him some respect?

Totally agree Sniff. I was just about to post something similar. It would be great if we could avoid these kind of childish "twitter" comments on this otherwise excellent forum.

A bit of fact checking Bong had a Whoscored rating of 6.71 last season which was higher than any of Ribeiro, Blackett or Ioannou. Some of the comments about him are ridiculous.
His pace does worry me and he is no long term solution but he can do a job.

Main worry for me is that he sounded pretty rusty based on reports of our last pre season game.
Completely agree though, he wasn't great but people see what they want to see sometimes.

Ffs….Who’s hating him??
Stop being so dramatic!
Just because some of us don’t rate him doesn’t mean we hate him.
Bong may have been a decent player a few years ago, but he certainly isn’t any more. He’s a liability!
Just because they wear a Forest shirt doesn’t mean we have to think they’re a good player!
