It is a trophy though. Look at it this way - Newcastle have qualified for the Champions League in the last 20 or whatever years but nobody mentions that. They *do* mention that they haven't won a domestic trophy since 1955 though.

But on the other hand I honestly can't remember who won the FA Cup last year or the year before.

We will have a chance each year to win the FA cup.
When will the chance come along to get into the Champions League again.

It’s a really tough choice as both are amazing, and I would love to win the FA Cup.
But getting into the UCL, the players it would attract, and the increased spotlight on th3 club would be an amazing transformation, and put us into a position where we could be regular top 8 and challenging for domestic cup competitions

That's because it was a Manchester team. No-one remembers the ones won by them, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Everyone remembers the others like when Leicester won it.

I completely agree, its not about what other teams remember either, a Wembley cup final win is something you tell your kids/grandkids about. Plus the Europa is a better fit for where we are as it stands.

Its a great discussion and fun to dream but considering current form is somewhat erratic maybe best to remember that we need 4 more wins in a row to win the cup and find 6 or 7 wins out of 13 for CL.

We have taken part in the FA Cup every year but to say we’ve had a chance of winning it stretching reality somewhat. 

This year we have a real chance of winning it (provided we afford the opposition the proper respect they deserve). 

We are the highest placed team in the competition (albeit not for much longer). 

It’s an opportunity too good to pass up. 

If EM is serious about making us a serious force in English football then the opportunity to play Champions League football will present itself regularly from here on until such time that he deems otherwise.
