Conceding Soft Goals
#25
Forest training session on Monday morning:

“Right you lot, get stand in position defending our goal and JWP is going to spend the next 3 hours pinging balls towards you until you shower learn how to deal with it properly.”

“Then this afternoon forwards (and you Nikola you handsome bastard) we’re going to try to learn how to put the ball into the other net”.

I'm putting it out there.

Today was an example why you stay switched on and win second balls. That should have been our period of play where we controlled the game for 10 minutes.

It's ok saying it was a screamer but the way we don't clear our lines or close down is going to lead to goals.

Sometimes you just have to say fair play to the striker. It was a great goal.

I think Aina just got caught in two minds and unfortunately that split second hesitation is key at this level. 9 out of 10 times that sales wide or over.

It may have been meant in jest SM but that is a really good point. To be fair you can only practice using the tools you have and we all know our set piece deliveries have been poor. Having the likes now of Anderson, Sosa and more importantly JWP whipping balls in at training with their quality can surely only help both our defending and attacking at set pieces.

You can tell he’s expecting the guy to bomb on but he doesn’t

Yep and had he jumped in and the player bomb past we’d be criticising him. Hard life being a defender ?

Nit picking a bit over what was a decent team performance yesterday but Neco in particular worries me. Very lucky not to concede in the first minute and seemed to repeatedly lose his man. Not sure if he is getting enough help when opponents overload on the right or if it is his problem. I like Neco and Nuno seems to aswell but he hasn’t been up to speed yet.
Still think a back 3 fits our squad better if we can overcome the where to play MGW question.

Shit myself as I’d just found the stream and he got completely twisted by they LWB and then it seemed to go through sels legs at the time good old Murillo came to mop it up and whack it out. Do we see the aina switch to the right and moreno in after the break?

We seem to have eradicated conceding those soft goals now.

I felt both Brighton goals were poor defensively.
