I just feel even though it did help us momentum wise, last seasons cup run painted us as the plucky championship side get a one over, over established prem teams. I want this one to show that we are the established prem team again and is making semi finals will be the norm and not a one off.

If we make the semis and the other teams are City, Utd, Newcastle - does that mean we will be in Europe assuming the other 3 teams finish in the top 6? Or does the league cup not qualify for a EUFA cup qualifying spot?

I think you've got to win it.
The last spot goes to the team that finishes 7th in the league if top 6 win the cups.
