If we had only brought in Zinc and Davis then I would agree but nobody is saying that.
But Zinc and Davis instead of Lingard and Dennis? Its a yes from me.

Yep Im one of them. More talking about individual matches. The spirit of the team from last season would have beaten Fridays team in my opinion.

I am not saying last seasons squad would have survived in the PL for one second, it clearly needed additions, we had a core of 14 players who carried us to promotion. But maybe fewer proper quality additions added to what we had would have made more sense.

The other point with bringing in so many is has it diluted the average quality of the incomings. Instead of spending £150m on 22 players spend the same amount on 12. Yes some were free so thats not exact but you get the point.
Therefore instead of 17m on Awoniyi and 20m on Dennis (I know thats with add ons) we spend £35m on someone of higher quality to both. Who I have no idea, anyone proven in the PL goes for £50m plus. The only one I think at that level is Scamacca who went to West Ham. We will have to see if he does better than Dennis or Awoniyi, its more the theory I wonder about.

I think this is where we fundamentally disagree. 

The difference between the Championship (where we were both fully aligned about transfer strategy) and the Prem is that you have to spend larger sums to raise the quality by 1%, 2% or even 5%. 

17m on Awoniyi v 7m on Keinan and the difference is probably only half a dozen goals but the potential impact of those half a dozen goals is substantial. 

There is also the realistic prospect that either Awoniyi or Dennis would arrive and not settle or hit a run of form in the immediate short term so we have spreaded the risk and opportunity. To put all of our eggs in one basket is higher risk and clearly not the preferred option, particularly if we are taking a statistics based approach. 

Part of the issue here is that people have overrated our signings, I’ve seen (laughably) some of them referred to as “elite level”, “great” and “top half” players. That’s a complete fallacy.

I agree with you here! There's a reason these players were willing to sign for Forest. You're not going to be able to attract in the main. "great, top half" players just because we're throwing some cash around. You need to invest in young players that can grow into that level with the team. Combined with a few older players with experience. I feel we on paper did that well.

I do disagree that Taiwo adds more goals. Perhaps he would score a few more but I believe with Davis we'd have scored more as a team overall. Tbh. I'm still not sure why we didn't sign Davis for continuity with the system with a view to letting Taiwo settle in and come in later on/when Davis is inevitably injured. The same applies to Garner, just a little more continuity might've really helped us settle in these last few weeks.

Again, be delighted if I'm wrong and Taiwo shows improvement. I did read he had good underlying metrics in Germany, maybe with some time and confidence his game would improve in other areas. Given the lack of alternatives I'd probably still play him every game until January.
