Rate the Transfer Window

Whilst I voted sev-en (it's a strictly thing), I prefer to cast judgement later. Like everyone else I know very little about many of the players signed. Zinc was binned off by Watford and has probably been our best player, so who knows?

I hope Finn Back gets a loan. At 18 he looks a real prospect, but his path to 1st team squad now looks blocked.

I will be 100% behind whoever wears the shirt and I think that so long as Worrall and McKenna stay fit we will climb the table steadily.

I hope fans can draw a line under the last 12 months and get behind Hughton and the lads as some positivity wouldn't go amiss. There will always be some who appear to take joy out of being right about managers being bad fits etc.. but ultimately we all want the same things: Forest back on top and winning.

In management speak, I am hoping we have reached the bottom of the 'J -curve' associated with significant change in an organisation. As always time will tell.

A lot of talk about if we have had a good transfer window or not. Link shows all ins/outs of the Championship. If the figures are right then not many clubs have spent much money.

I think we were a striker away from having a very good window, so I think we ended up better than average.

My biggest frustration is the management of the window, not the eventual outcome, which I though was just about OK. We had holes in the side at the start of the season and then suffered injuries. That resulted in poor results and put the manager under pressure. I'm sure these two issues will have been negative factors to potential players coming in.

We've eventually got bodies through the door which is good. Most I know little about so I'll judge when I've seen them but I like the sound of Spence but worry why he's been let go for a season. Lowe looks a bang average signing to me so I suggest the LB will continue to be our problem position for the rest of the season. Disapointed we didnt land the striker but I never thought Maja was top drawer and would explode onto the scene like say Britt did. But I havent given up on Taylor yet. There seems to be a little spark with him this season and he might do vetter for us if hes given a run in the side and gets more service. But with the lack of a new striker its very important that he and Grabban stay fit.

I echo the striker comments.  But there is a candle of hope that Silva can be a 'chaos' factor that brings goals out of Grabban and Lyle.  with better wingers and better service goals should come, even from ageing legs.  We'll have to put it on a plate for them.

And if eg. Brennan gives Lyle that kind of service he's shown he can bang it in as sweet as anyone.  I don't think he lacks for confidence.  Just service.  He's not a Kenny Dalglish back to defence and turn kind of guy.

For this season.  Forest actually won pre-season games and didn't lose them.  (Which shows what can happen if you a manager who knows what he's doing in pre-season.)

This season, Forest had lost 4 (narrow) games in a row.  A few of those could have been draws or even a win bar the self capitulations (blunders) in defence/goal and starting the season with fullbacks.  Many of those games Forest started brightly or had good spells.

Zinc Man is class.  But he was a solitary outfield (loan) signing for those games.  Not enough to replace the fullbacks, CM, ACM and wingers that we'd lost.  (Rib', Christie, Krov', Garner, Ameobi...)

Many still using last season (the one with Sabri's squad and Mr. V's recruitment) to 'stat' Hughton.  But he used the January window well to keep Forest up.

This season, he's finally got his players in (late) and can finish his cancelled pre-season (also late) over the International Break.

So, stats wise, I'll be using this point to cast a more balanced picture of what a manager can do with an actual pre-season and now, 10 of 'his' (I think it's fair to say recruitment is now a team based reality at Forest) players to work with.  Options.

Now that he has them?  We'll begin in earnest vs Cardiff. Only then will we know if the Summer window has been a good one and if Recruitment has done their job.

Where did you get the 8 straight league matches from? It's 5 isn't it? Four this season and the home defeat to Preston at the end of last. But your point's still valid and I agree, it's still to be determined if the side is stronger on the pitch rather than on stats.

Where did you get the 8 straight league matches from? It's 5 isn't it? Four this season and the home defeat to Preston at the end of last. But your point's still valid and I agree, it's still to be determined if the side is stronger on the pitch rather than on stats.
