Good question mate. I don't have an answer.

My wish would be for Grabbans injuries to clear up and for him to stay and get back to his best like he was the first half of this season but I am not convinced that he can.

I would be very disappointed if Grabban is moved on but I have to accept his performances towards the end of the season were dire, how much of that is due to an injury he is carrying I dont know.

I doubt we would get anywhere near £6M for him regardless, think would be better staying. I remember when he arrived he made a big thing of saying he was moving to the area and didnt want another loan as he wanted to settle in one place.

As for another forward option that we clearly need, I really hope MON goes for someone with pace and not a big bruiser, younger version of Murphy

I’m concerned too about what we’ll get from Grabban next season. I don’t know whether it was injury or some attitude or both, I guess you’d need to be there to know. But we know he won’t accept not being first choice, and if we’re playing one up front we need a first team quality forward ‘backup’ given his injury problems, so may as well cash in on him and buy a quality starter if they can identify one.

Murphy has a year remaining on his contract so he will not be going anywhere, particularly at his age.

If he is used sparingly as a third choice, impact sub type of player he will be useful to have around; if we are relying on a regular contribution we are in trouble.

I would have though that Grabben's omission from the side related to his injury problems; I certainly hope so or we have another good player on a high wage, sidelined due to non footballing reasons.

Another player who we cannot move on because other clubs cannot or will not match the wage he is on.

I was hoping a Director of Football would put an end to this carry on and insist managers use the players at their disposal, particularly when this specific player has just scored 16 goals in 39 appearances.

Notwithstanding that, we certainly need another decent forward if we have any designs on promotion.

I think it's no secret that Grabban has an Achilles injury.

It's an injury that is not easy to get over.

If Karim goes, we will be looking for three new strikers, Murphy is done and not even good for a 10 minute cameo appearance (pls refer to the last games when he came on as a sub and you see what I mean), and Grabbans attitude especially in the post January doesnt give me too much confidence, carrying an injury or not, he seemed like a player with no position and playing as it pleases him ...infact in the two 60 minute performances that Karim played, he was better then Grabbans last 3 or four months. Grabban started slowly (in fact many were saying that we wasted money on him), then he had a good spell were he scored the majority of his goals and then (including the time lost due to injury) he was mostly a passenger jogging around ...

It's difficult. I can't imagine that another club will offer more than 2-3 million, also I can't imagine that we would be prepared to suffer a 3-4 million loss on him, then there is the option of him to stay but if he's going to struggle for fitness...

It's a huge call that someone is going to have to make.

karim looked like he could score every game when he got a proper run of games and not 5 mins. he certainly carved out his own chances, i would very much like to see him get a preseason and a chance but obviously very doubtful.

kenny burns reckons that martin will go back to  playing 4-4-2 . it will be interesting to see will grabban stay.

I can't see Grabban staying, and to be honest I can see O'Neill shipping him out, I really thought that O'Neill had turned a corner, but obviously not.

If he was on 25k per week, and I would assume he is on more than that, he will be due the best part of 4m in wages not to mention his signing on fee which is spread over the length of his contract.

Its not the fee we will want that prevents a deal being done, its the wages he will demand.

I understand what you are saying Jean and you make some good points but Vrentzos doesn't like losing money on transfers. I wouldn't be surprised that if we can't get back what we paid for him (also because of wages like you said) then he will stay. Then again Vrentzos may have to bury his head in the sand this time.

It's going to be really interesting to see how this one pans out.
