Season 2019/20 Can We Finally Go Up?

Got to learn how to win at home - against teams that put 11 behind the ball.
Very different to playing away against teams that attack us.
We concede possession away from home - but come away with the points.
Not sure that Cardiff were guilty of much more than that today.

We need to sign a different type of striker and a different type of winger in January to what we already have and perhaps a midfield player too.

We are not where we want to be yet although we are close.

Goalkeeper and defence are sorted. We just need a bit more quality in the final third.

In one month the window will open and we will have a chance to complete the job.

Well it seems this morning that all sporting radio stations have already decided that the top 2 places in the championship will be contested between only 3 teams and no one else can catch WBA, Leeds and Fulham. Might as well pack up and go home huh lads? I really don’t know if I’m happy that no-one is even talking about us with a chance of going up or actually annoyed that no-one is giving the team the credit they deserve at the moment. Sure, we are not all guns blazing and running round like crazy people at high tempo but what we are is street wise, organised with good game management. We have improved areas of our game where we were lacking. We are also not burning ourselves out early in the season, So many times we have run ourselves into the ground by chasing players and the ball this time we are moving together like chess pieces small movements using less energy and playing the long game.

We may not make top two, we may not go up but right now, to count any team out so early in the season before the madness of the festive period is just a lack of respect in what is the most unpredictable league in Europe.

Good post McForest and I agree with you. Still very early and lots of twists and turns to come yet.

And equally they can turn bad. Look at Preston, they were flying a few weeks ago and now have suffered 3 defeats on the bounce. They were unlucky last night but keep losing games and your confidence disappears. 

I change my mind on our prospects after every game. IMO we really need a win at Millwall after losing at home on Saturday.

2nd place is still up for grabs if we get our backsides into gear. Yes we've handicapped ourselves by having such a woefully thin set of attacking options, but there's still time. These are Leeds Xmas fixtures......

Tough run that, think they'll drop points.

2nd won't be easy, but add goals, pace & a complimentary striker for Grabs & give Mouch the options he needs and we'll do it.

I will comment at the end of December. Really hoping we lay our recent weird December hoodoo to rest. If we are in top 6 on Jan 1st then play offs it is, top 2 is a bit of a stretch, but DirtyLeeds usually capitulate after Christmas.

Generally I've been able to control my expectations so that after so many wasted years I don't start to think that we can be promoted.Despite that I suppose I did start to believe that we were good enough to make it to the top league. Now it seems that we will achieve mid table obscurity once more. Our recent failings are obvious but remedies are not so. For sure we have to invest in a proven goal scorer, for me one with skill, strength and heading ability. He will cost big money and so it feels to me that January will be a real test of our owner's true commitment on the pitch. With the development plans and spending there it's strange to think that he won't go for it. Recruitment so far lacks the credibility of a concerted total plan for promotion. I'll go on Saturday this time not expecting much so that I'm not as pissed off as last night which wasn't fair on my wife.

Given current form or results, the top 6 is looking like an ask.

That can change by winning their next game and winning their game in hand.

Sow is a massive miss. Getting him back on the pitch would help and reinstalling Rib' at LB.

...and get some quality signings in January.
