My point is JWJW instead of wasting energy to boo the team why not use the same energy to get behind it. If they had have done that goal may have come a little earlier! It’s been proved on a number of occasions this season that the crowd really can be the 12th man.
Booing your own team who are within touching distance of the playoff is just plain crazy IMO. No one can be enamoured with the football we’re seeing at the moment I agree it’s pretty dire at times but maybe we’re at that stage when grinding out results is the best we can do.
We were shown against Villa that we are a few players short of a really decent team, it’s not the players fault it’s previous transfer dealings.

The cynic in me can’t help but think there are people here who don’t go to games criticising the opinions of those who do (regardless of how they conduct themselves).

I think we are all missing the point.
Of course people have a right to boo because it is not an offence is it? So they have the right.
The point is, what does booing actually achieve? Is it positive for the players, management, owners etc to hear it or is it negative for the players, management and owners to hear it?
Decide for yourselves...Personally I think the answer is not rocket science.
But lets remember, it's not about do we have a right to boo, it's about what damage the booing is doing.

Applying that logic Duncan what do Martin’s post match comments achieve?
They were equally as divisive.

To be fair to MON he didn't bring up the subject of booing.
It was Chipperfield who brought it up. Perhaps with hindsight MON should have skated around the question. He probably wishes that he had done now.

I was quite surprised with his answer.
He could have easily said “i’m the manager and ultimately responsible for the results, we made the change and won”. No drama and a clear message.

He made the point in a sensible and forceful way without doing what Karanka did and dropping a bomb. And I think he was spot on, reminding us that he's experienced and successful so we need to trust in him.

'can booing backfire'
'it's ok for me to pay £30 and expect total destruction, complete superiority, one way traffic and at least 4 goals for my team .. isn't it?
'what can I do to avoid ruining my day when we win'
'why do bullet headers give me so much satisfaction as to be able to instantly forget everything that has happened prior?'
after deep down soul searching I conclude there is no point in booing, I guess the alternative debate is 'is it ok to appreciate, enjoy and applaud an opposing team that is playing some damn good stuff?
playing relatively bad and winning against a team that has played outstandingly well, is in its own right a masterclass

To answer the question in the header: No it is NOT acceptable to boo your own team.
You can of course chose to do so but that is in my mind, just stupid behaviour to put it mildly. Mind, just because you have paid money for something doesn’t give you the right to act as an a........

Yeah I think that’s the debate, is there ever a benefit? A very hypothetical scenario as it’s not like you can control the amount of booing but I would say yes. Basic psychology is that some people respond positively to criticism (I know it inspires me personally, not an invitation though!)
In fact I’d argue that booing a good team would probably have a more positive impact than a poor team as they’d be stronger and more confident mentally so would respond positively. Whereas a struggling team are likely to be more fragile and therefore react more negatively.
I think booing a managerial decision is different too, not sure it really helps as I can’t help but think the chanting for carvalho is only making MON less inclined to pick him! Again that’s how people react sometimes.
Those people saying they’d never boo? Are you saying you stayed quiet in the Fawaz issues? Also if we’re 8-0 down at home you’d just happily continue trying to support the lost cause? Do you not think players would in fact try less hard if they knew there was going to be no backlash from supporters? (Subconsciously mainly) this is part of the psychology behind why teams are better at home

But we're not talking about Fawaz. That's history.
We're talking about a season where we're a win from the play offs.
The team are undergoing a 'live' pre-season of games half way through the season. Given that, Forest are doing well to be 3 points off.
The team selection is a 'needs must.' Forest are going down the 'tough to beat' route.
Starting with? Picking Car' and Ani' gave the initiative to the 'improved' (for them) Ipswich. It was like playing with 9 men. So Forest went down 1 nil because those two can't hold the ball up. Lightweight. So Forest then have to do something they couldn't do with Car' and Ani' on the pitch. 'Be creative.'
Car' isn't up to the Championship. He started ok. But the winter season found him out. And at £13.5 million he should be. (He might not be the only player 'not up to it...' But we didn't pay £13.5 million on them. And that money should have been doled out for an extra striker, an ACM who was ready and probably a handful of players in total who would have seen Forest better served. This isn't Greece. Hopefully lessons learned.)
So, he's not our secret weapon. But I wouldn't 'boo' him. I feel in terms of bang for buck? Cash and Murphy have done more. Os' tried harder. Yates, I feel, seems to have a better attitude. Big Ben has a robust attitude. You need that in the championship. And Murphy got the goal and inspired the win despite the boos.
Be the 12th man (like Leeds did against Forest at their place.) Especially when you're team are so close. It's not like Forest are on a 5 losing streak. Swansea play better football. But they earned that over years of consistency.
But they are as brittle as Forest were under Warburton.
MoN knows Car' and Murphy better. And the results have born that out. He's the boss.
SA.

Can I just add before replying properly that carvalho and karim didn’t play v Ipswich, they were on the bench. They started in a much tougher game against Villa and were certainly not at fault for our defeat. In fact carvalho had what looked like a lovely assist ruled out when that goal was disallowed. Probably the pick of our team in fact that game although not an achievement in that match
