Because of the Norwich loss and Bolton win, we find ourselves in a position that by the end of the weekend we could be within 1 point of top if results when our way or a huge 7 points away which, with only 2/3 or the season to go, can be very difficult to catch up. What a brilliant league this is!! I mean the excitement you get in the championship is second to none really.

Yes really feel we should have beaten Norwich especially as we are at home and we can play better than that. The Fans are just wanting us to get some form together really, as we are at the moment playing like a mid-table team with poor showings against Milwall and then a good showing against Middlesbrough. The only thing which is consistence is that we are inconsistence. Frustrating very Frustrating so far.

Part of me is thinking with the overhaul of players we should be doing better that we are especially considering the costs we have laid out of players. However I am no mug and I do understand our team is new, but surely they have been together long enough now to be kicking on. Another factor I do forget is that the team was so low on quality that our starting position for players was a lot less than most of the teams in the championship, so I need to remember that we are still having to build. We would not have looked a good career choice for most players at the end of the year so we had to improve the quality of players but we were never going to bring in top quality because those players would not want to join. So small and frequent steps required in player ability.

My view on the manager was firstly didn’t want him when he came. Saw his previous teams and really didn’t look forward to what was to be come. However came round to him as he was the ruthless manager we needed to start the season. Getting rid of players and going for what seemed sensible players to mount a charge up the table. Pre-season and start of the season we were attacking and was very impressed with where we could go. But reason times have seen us more move towards defensive and inviting pressure on ourselves. Midfield and attacking midfield becoming too far apart and creating lots of space for other teams. So after last year am I concerned we will do the same at this point in the season. Yes I am and I it idiotic not to be thinking it’s possible and surely if anything that drives the fans and players to want more and do more.

That is me keeping some perspective on what is going on but the longer the season goes on and the more ups and downs we have the harder it is, because I am invested and emotional about the club.

The facts being that Forest currently have managed 15 points from the last 8 games (after the first international break where many things suddenly seemed to fall into place). That's almost 2 points per game on average and leaves Forest in 4th place in that form table. So from a strictly points perspective we are looking very good. In this period Forest has had two below par performances (Millwall and Norwich) but so have other teams. Above Forest in the last 8 games form table are Norwich, Birmingham and QPR. So none of top 5 teams have managed a similar or better points tally in the last 8 games. We are all entitled to our own opinions and all of that but the negative picture that is painted by many fans doesn't at all correspond with the facts from the real world.

And our main striker has managed to score 8 goals in this 8 game period. Not too bad.

oh i do totally agree Garibaldi there is things that are positive as well but to keep things in perspective we shouldn't be getting carried away with that either as we know how fast things can change for the worst better than most. So at current i think it is safe to follow the view point that end of season we are looking like a mid-table team who may or may not kick on.

Isnt it interesting how our expectations have changed since the close season. Half way or above was going to be a satisfactory seasons work for most of us at that time. Now it seems that the sights have been reset and we are expected to make the play off's at the very least.

Im not sure how good we are. Top half? Top 6? The performances are too varied for me to figure this question out.

Two things I am sure of though:
We are difficult to beat.
The squad is good but Lolley apart, we lack X Factor.

West Brom want to sign Lolley in January as I know someone who is close to his girlfriend. Apparently he likes it at Forest but no doubt his agent will do his job and stir things.
