He looks very promising indeed. Lets see how he does medium term when prem teams make plans to nullify him. But he looks a talented lad doesn't he?

Quality player. That pass through to MGW which lead to Sturridge goal was what we need for quicker counter attacking. Marvelous

Very promising but made quite a few mistakes too. Let him adapt to the game before we hype him as the brazilian Roy Keane.

Fair assessment. He made some good interceptions and played a couple of cracking passes but he also put us in big trouble a couple of times too.

So far so good, he really does have potential and I am looking forward to him evolving under Steve Cooper

I didn't notice many mistakes out of the ordinary. The much lauded Casemiro got done over (mistakes) many times more than our boy. I was extremely impressed, mainly because he sat deep (which we want for a DCM) but when he got the ball he was either taking it forward at pace or he played a forward ball rather than sideways or backwards. So far, very impressed.

I thought he looked great throughout, always seemed to be in space (maybe a bad thing?!), always in the game, made some good tackles/passes. He seemed to offer more than Freuler to the team in from my view, not sure Steve thought the same as he subbed him so early.

Think it's been a decent start either way and will get lots of minutes with Steve clearly not being enamoured with Mangala's. Plus unlikely to play Lingard or Scarpa in midfield again after he was complaining afterwards we were too open, which I'd agree with.

Amazing to think he moved to the UK a week ago from South America. I think Steve needs to keep him involved whilst not necessarily making him a starter if he doesn't feel he's ready yet. If there's one thing I trust it's Steve Cooper to know how to manage him to help him develop.

He is dynamic and tough in the tackle. He looks to get if forward quick - our non goal being a case in point.
He did make some mistakes - eagerness? Not used to the pressure and high press and tempo in English football? His first touch a couple of times was heavy and legs were going a bit on 60 which is understandable and bigger picture is - players have got injured when not 100% at the start of the season.

Danilo made one brilliant surging run into the box completely unmarked only for Johnson not to look up and square it across to him (again).

When you’re running as fast as Johnson does I’m sure that’s easier said than done

There is no excuse OZ it's basic stuff. I am not having a go at the lad but he did the same thing to Taiwo against Chelsea I think it was and he did the same thing to MGW against Leicester too. He only needs to lift his head and have a look I am not asking him to do a double somersault. It's clearly part of his game he needs to improve and work on, when to cross and when to shoot.
