Season 2019/20 Can We Finally Go Up?

This is the striker we need BUT wouldn't be able to afford.

No way he would go to anywhere lower then the Premier league and no way any sale is south of £50M

That said we stand more of a chance now than we did when we had a certain Irish assistant manager at the club.

Have read on another forum that Haaland was recommended to us by Modesto a while back.

If that's the case, let's hope there's an unknown kid just as good on his way here in Jan

Extrapolating our points per game over 46 games would finish us on 85pts.
Over the last 5 seasons that would always have have been enough for a 3rd or 4th finish.
In 3 of the last 5 seasons, 89 points would give you 2nd place.

Back on track. 90 points should see us take second spot.
Big ask but at our present rate of points per game we only need a slight improvement.
Or am I dreaming?

I think you are dreaming a bit really Sniff. Thats a mighty ask, to improve on the form we're all really delighted with so far.

We're not currently dominating games and scoring enough goals to hit that kind of points total. My prediction would be a 3rd or 4th finish behind West Brom, Leeds, and maybe Preston.

Loose the next game against Bristol and out of top 2 territory i think.

Having played 16 games, West Brom are in front of the required average of 1.96 points per game and Preston are bang on it.

I don't expect Preston to be able to maintain this level particularly with their upcoming run of games Derby, Hull, West Brom (a draw would be great), QPR Fulham, Luton, Cardiff and Leeds.

We just need to match the results of those around us and try and pick up an extra point here and there!

That one still stings, Jock.  Billy could see it.  The fans could see it.  Heaven and earth was needed to secure him long term.  To get 'us' over the line.

This time, we have the 'Regime' to enforce the new doctrine.  Failure is not tolerated.

West Brom have still got that Premier momentum, budget, players and determination to get their.  But they're not immutable.

Preston are 3 years into their plan.  It shows.  The way they play.  From defense to attack as a unit.  But again, under Martin O' Neil, we taught them a tactical lesson.  They're not anything special.  A product of a plan, hard work and determination and a manager who is decent and had..?

Time.

Despite that?  We're only a game behind them.  'ish.'  And we have that game in hand.

Are Preston and Leeds really any better than us? I am not convinced.
