Well done I got my dates wrong I thought the 1996 game was the one vs Pompey away with the howler from Mark Crossley. That was 1992 now Ive looked it up.
I dont remember the Villa game weirdly although Im would have thought I went. Just looked at the crowd for that game only 21K!! Shows how much of a feel good vibe there is now.

Perhaps tells us how much we took occasions like that for granted back then. Unbelievable that it would take a quarter century to get back to that stage of a cup competition.
Half our team wasn't even alive when we last played and the oldest squad member would be in primary. Our manager would have been in secondary school.

I remember that game!
Our former player, Franz Carr, scored the only goal of the game.
We had to play the game in midweek due to the Spurs replay taking place on the Saturday the quarter finals took place.

Remember it well the game was lost before we even kicked off, I also remember how the Liverpool fans disrespected us and what John Aldridge did to Brian Laws.

They did (disrespect us). I can recall the sense of astonishment when they started singing their "we hate Nottingham Forest" song. I was only a naive youth at the time but can remember thinking that's not really on.

Yes they did, but they got the "and Nottingham Forest hate you, you Bastards" fired straight back at them. They did applaud us when we sang Mull of Kintyre though.

It always baffles me that game was ever played, they should really have abandoned the competition although I guess they got what everyone else wanted, LFC triumphing in the scouse derby. Must have been an awful game to attend, completely no win situation.

There's an article on some website saying that there'll be VAR for all of the FA Cup quarter-finals, including ours. But I've not seen that confirmed anywhere reputable.
