Experienced players are less likely to crumble to dust like the team did towards the end of last season.
Ahem, Grabban did crumble to dust. Couldn't hit a barn door in the final 3 games, In fact last 18 games only scored 4 goals (1 being a Pen)
Watson struggled, Dawson did too, Sow struggled with injury but wasn't as good as earlier in season.
These were our experienced leaders and they didn't help

Pretty sure Grabban was handy enough 5/6 years ago. Scored plenty for Bournemouth/Norwich and won promotion.

This year the fixture congestion is crazy. We're going to need a deeper squad than usual. And given that last year it was already a problem, we need to add more proven quality because its very likely we're going to have to use the full squad more.
So less Semedo-like punts that may or may not come off, because that place in the squad matters. More players who we can put into the team and be confident they will do the job.
Easier said than done when we already need to sell to satisfy FFP. The 3 signed so far tick the boxes, but we'll probably have to look for a couple of bargains from abroad too. Relatively experienced heads, players who have delivered in their careers, not punts on kids.

The point is he’s got better with experience, like most players, and is now a complete forward. Similar story with Lyle Taylor.
We’ve had too young a team in recent years. More experience was needed and the people at the club seem to agree.

Signing better players. Adding that depth to hold a top 6 place...and challenge for top 2.
Forest were so close at times last season to a top 2.
But more quality along the spine was mandatory to sustain or take that challenge on.
A winger, ACM required. (An Enforcer to challenge Sow maybe on his way..?). Stop the play pinging back to the defence. And try and put the boot in when on top.

Yes. That might have been a bit of a problem in certain parts of the team last year.
Thinking of the last minute goals conceded. Something not quite right there.
Grabban and Lyle. Can't wait.
Need a Winger and ACM to increase the supply lines.

I can't see what any of our 4 signings so far have got to do with Modesto and Anigo.
Definitely looks like a change in transfer strategy that people were crying out for.
Perhaps Modesto and Anigo are now scouting younger players for the under 23's?

Fouad Bachirou though Sniff? African French. Plucked from relative obscurity. I'd say that's got Anigo written all over it.

Sure I read on here somewhere that he's Sabri's choice and he wants him badly.

Yep - John Percy confirmed it was a player that Sabri himself had identified to the board

There was a bit of annoyance on here when the story about us signing Guerrero broke, which may or may not have subsided a bit now it's come out that this is Sabri's choice - a player that he identified after that friendly vs. Olympiakos before last season. Some fans want us to buy cheap and sell dear, investing in young prospects, developing them then selling them on, and yes that sounds like a good business model. But would that get us promoted? Brentford, for all the praise they receive, haven't gone up. Same with Peterborough.
If Sabri is signing players that Sabri wants - as is reportedly the case with Guerrero and Bachirou - then should we not be happy with that? Surely it's better than when, say, 'Billy Davies' signed the likes of Djamel Abdoun, a player that never seemed to fit his profile.
Look at the players we've brought in this season so far (assuming Guerrero signs): Colback, Blackett, Taylor, Bachirou, Freeman and Guerrero. Most of them with Championship experience and the other two with experience in other top-flights and Europe. Was our team not crying out for this? How many points might have been saved last season with a few more older heads on the pitch? How many late goals might have been avoided?
In an ideal world of course we'd look long-term and buy young, develop and either keep or sell on, but Sabri doesn't have that luxury. His remit is promotion and it seems he's identified a lack of characters and experience as one of the reasons he didn't achieve it last season. OK, you can make the point that it's a very short-term strategy from the ownership, and it is. But that's what Sabri's got to work with and I think the recruitment this season reflects that. Have any clubs got promoted from the Championship with squads they've bought young and developed? I genuinely don't know.
