Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 21's
This is a really interesting perspective on the performance of our (and other clubs') academy:

We all acknowledge what a brilliant job Gary Brazil has done for Forest, but this shows that there is certainly scope for further progression.

Thanks for that SR very interesting and agree there is obvious scope for improvement.

However I can’t make head or tail of the scoring system they have used, not at all clear who they count as an”academy graduate”. Assume they only include players currently active in an academy? Or does the lies of Ryan Yates count? How many appearances does a player need to make to score? It is only England players though so the likes of Brennan Johnson, Dale Taylor and Aaron Donnelly not included in Forests ranking. The scoring looks full of holes to me.

To be honest considering where we are I am really only interested in players who make it as either Premier League or Championship. I couldn’t care less that Crewe and Reading have produced a load of players for L2 or the national league.

Agree that the Academy needs to evolve and progress like the rest of the club. Only hope we aren’t doing change for changes sake.

Just thought it was an interesting analysis. Not so much on here, as it's a bit more balanced and reasoned, but the reaction on Twitter is bordering on the ridiculous.

Interesting article but can’t be read in context with Gary’s achievements, far from it.

Our U21's could end up in an EFL Trophy group with the sheep, Notts and Lincoln.

Or, less interestingly, Mansfield, Burton and Doncaster.

Also seems that the Premier League 2 will be all one division from next season, so we've not actually missed out by not getting promoted.

Is the plan to keep the best players at the club rather than loaned out?

Forest U21s in an EFL Trophy group with Accrington, Carlisle and Harrogate.

Bugger. Apparently Daws did the draw so we can blame him. It would have made more sense commercially if groups had simply been allocated grouping local teams together.

The plan with younger players will always be to push them to pay at the highest level possible.

Dale Taylor and Donnelly will be looking for Champ/L1 loans
Harbottle - L1
Oli Hammond will be looking for a L1/L2 loan
Fin Back will prob go back to Carlisle in L1 on loan.
Larsson and Konate will leave this summer I believe.
George Shelvey is planned to go out on loan

Loans are always preferable to PL2, indeed, if i was a player not on loan, id be wondering whether the club rated me.
