I think you might be right. But we'll see how the selection goes vs Bury. I suspect he'll give them a rest and plenty of the rest of the 1st teamers.
Cash and Soudani certainly provided fresh energy, pace, guile and impetus to a 'drained' Forest.

Looking at yesterday's squad it now seems that Goncalves has fallen behind Appiah in the picking order. At present Lolley, Cash, Dias, Appiah all ahead of him. Looks like he is now 5th choice.

Fair comment, I actually would have preferred to have seen him come on yesterday (appreciate he would have to be on the bench first) instead of Dias, I have praised Dias previously because of what he brings to the Team defensively particularly when Ben was playing at left back.
Yesterday Dias played so many balls either sideways or backwards it was like watching Ben Watson.
I thought Goncalves did well against Stoke prior to his sending off, he is clearly quite lightweight and will find it tough in the Championship but we needed some direct running and guile in that second half which he clearly has the ability to do.

Ouch. On another day, maybe Forest would have beaten Preston. But I'm disappointed that Norwich found a way to win their game. And Forest didn't. None of the tour 4 are any great shakes. Preston was a missed opportunity.
Forest don't seem as good without Dawson at CH and Robinson at LB.
Championship. You need robust, athletic players who can 'play a bit.'
There's a few areas where Forest need to strengthen to have a crack at the top 2. They seem to be 'treading water' in a 'few' positions. But in fairness, Forest aren't as far into their 'project' as Norwich or Leeds are.

Since this thread is about two of the portugese...i wish to comment just on them...nd Dias....we have been ripped up....Dias nd Gonglavez will leave or in January or at the end of the season...in regard Carvalio...the lad has talent but nowhere worth the money paid for him...he is no better then Dowell...nd no one would have paid that sort of money for him...the later even scored more goals !! .. it hurts me to say that he is being played nd left on the field because of the money we spent on him...if he was on loan like the other two...no chance AK will keep sticking with him...but he has to play him so not to loose on his value...if we want to be promoted that number 10 spot has to be worn by a player that contributes more nd on a regular nd consistent basis....Carvalio...is not doing it...

Carvalho is better than Dowell in his all round contiibution in my opinion.
Also we had Dowell on loan. I suspect if they ever sell him Everton will want more for Dowell than we paid for Carvalho.

I am prepared to cut Carvalho some slack.
I don't we will see the best of him until next season.
He is still very young, living in a new country and playing a different kind of football with a huge fee hanging over his head.
He has looked really good in patches though already.
It's a big ask for him to produce his best over 40 games in his first season.

Carvalho currently has most assists in the league. Not saying he is work the money we paid for him (yet) but it’s a promising start and works his socks off every match.
As for the other two Portuguese, very disappointed that they haven’t stepped up. Certainly not worth the money that’s been mentioned for them two.

He didn't have his best game against Preston and we do need to see a bit more from him but what has impressed me is his work rate. He is does a massive amount of running and closing opponents down as well as having an eye for a pass that many don't even see. That's what sets him apart from Dowell, who was often anonymous he'd score a goal then disappear again from the game. I'm still not seeing £13M yet though.

When he's 'hot' he's very hot. Take away his assists, and Forest probably slip down the table to tenth?
However, when he's 'cold' or off the beat?
This is where I feel he needs some serious competition from a battle hardened Championship ACM that can ruffle the other team. This is something I feel Tomlin could do. Hold up play. Niggle the opposition. Win the free kick.
It may not be Tomlin in the January window. But it needs to be someone?
Every chance Forest have had to consolidate their position in the top 6 or put pressure on the top 2? They have drawn, lost or stalled?
With Forest sitting 7th, I think that answer or answers (!) may need to come in the January window.
