The club has to demonstrate continual improvements to education and infrastructure as well as standards in coaching. Forest have long had a cat1 staff anyway - with infrastructure improvements already getting planning approval.
That doesn’t take away the fantastic job we are doing - with NFFC above Villa for example - who have an outstanding set up (league loans of U23 have impacted their results somewhat).
It’s the U18s that are also very impressive- beating MCFC is no mean feat at that level with their investment and infrastructure light years from ours.
That is testament to the coaching and support staff - a structure that was put in place a very long time ago and is also protected and written into the conditions of any future sale. Great foresight from ND! A true legacy…
Absolutely Oz.
Thank you that.

Alongside the new facilities due to be built and our form in the league, surely we must be looked upon now as a Cat 1 club?
Unfortunately our form will have little or no impact as far as retention of Cat 1 goes.
We have interim status at the moment; that is because the education block has not yet been built - this was the single item which prevented us from applying for Cat 1 in the past.
The standard of coaching at the Academy has improved over recent years, and it was not too bad prior to that.
Gary Brazil sets very high standards and all of the staff, full time and temporary, buy into the ethos.

Im sure its been well thought through but is there a reason we dont use University facilities for the educational side of things? Im sure its better to have things all on one site but is it a massive problem if people travel a couple of miles away to a purpose built education centre? I dont see why that would hinder Cat 1 status as long as the quality of the education is there. I guess its all irrelevant if we are building anyway.

The build-up play for a couple of those goals last night was magnificent - the kind of stuff you see Man City do week in, week out. Incisive passing, great running to make space and killer assists resulting in easy finishes.

In other words, we will see if Forest get promoted or not this year before I decide if I'm staying?

I hope Ateef wants to stay and can see the vision, there cant be many better places assuming he realises he wont walk into a PL clubs 1st team next year. He does however have a realistic chance of 1st team if he stays with us whichever league we are in. The alternative is to go to somewhere like Chelsea and spend the next 6 years being touted around L1 clubs on loan and watch his career slowly fizzle out.

Sounds like he’s already been tapped up to me.
As Salv says let’s hope he sees what we are building.

I was reading through the Academy charter last night, which is effectively the framework document for compliance, and there is no mention of on site schooling.
There are clear guidelines on education but that aspect is not mentioned; well, as far as I could see its not.
