I consider myself to be very reasonable. 95% of the time I would favour continuity but this moment is the 1 in 20. I am simply convinced in my opinion unfortunately.
I don't think there is a silent majority in favour of him staying, I think there are a number of people on here who have argued quite strongly about wanting him to stay and probably less of us who have argued the opposite. It just so happens that favouring continuity is seen as the 'mature' or 'reasonable' side to the argument.
Folk need to chill a bit, it's all about opinion. We might find out who is right in the end, we might not. Lots of hypotheticals and things that can change.
