The wage caps for Leagues 1 and 2 were voted in yesterday and are applicable as of now.
The Championship Clubs are still discussing the proposals on the table; they are:
Clubs limited to a wage bill of 18m covering a 25 man squad; this will include agents fees.
The cap excludes home developed players under the age of 21.
Existing contracts over 10k per week will be counted at a notional level of 10k per week until phased out when the contract expires or the player leaves; all new signings will count at their new level.
This will certainly level the playing field with Parachute payment Clubs.
Bournemouth for example, have just sold Ake and will probably end up selling Wilson who would be two of their top paid players; had they remained at the Club their wages would count at the 10k level.
They now have to find replacements and get them to accept a wage in line with the cap.
This will also put us in a good position and allow the purse strings to be opened a little bit wider than usual.
