The nature of the two (sometimes three) games a week was always going to stretch our meagre squad to the limit. Yes it was the same for those around us but these teams had bigger squads and budgets.

I'm not seeking excuses as what happened tonight was inexcusable but I understand some of the tactics deployed.

I feel sad because for much of the season we had shown real character and resilience. There was a sense of pride and optimism around the club for the first time in years. We beat the best in the league and always put up a fight.

But tonight just seemed too much and it feels so much of the good stuff has been undone. I don't know where we go from here.
