JC21, not so sure about them having received encouragement for us rather than knowing we have spent a few bob this close season and bidding hoping we may wish to balance the books a little, they are testing our resolve.
Ben is a squad player this season, nothing more than that. We need more quality in the first team if we are going to get up. Im afraid already that the opposition teams are looking at us a little more closely because we have headlined with our spending and so if we can get 8M from Breretons sale, we should take it, add a few more million to it and go get a top quality player who can fill out some of the weakness of our team that are already revealing themsleves.
Left back is still a concern for me, the striking department looks to be lightweight unless Grabban can start to find the net regularly soon and creatively (From the middle or out on the flanks), we may struggle if Geddy isnt firing. We cant rely on one player to provide all the bullets.
To me it makes very good sense indeed to let Ben Brereton leave as a squad player and invest in the first eleven in one of our weak areas.
Wheeling and dealing is vital for a club our size and one of the reason the academy exists and invested in so heavily.
