If true I would be happy to have him on board breathing down Carvalho's back and pushing him on.
Agreed. Carvalho needs pushing. That's Aitor's philosophy for every position in the team. And having players of comparable quality to come on is the reason why Forest won yesterday. Competition.
Tomlin? That wouldn't surprise me, at all. I suspect that Aitor has let the dust settle at Cardiff and now a deal can be struck now he isn't in Warnock's plans.
If we don't have competition for the ACM, then Karanka will bring it in. When Carvalho goes off, it's noticeable vs WBA that Forest didn't hold the ball up and got pushed back until the goal went in. Karanka made the subs earlier vs Reading and it made an impact with energy, pace and guile.
A player who can 'manage' a game by virtue of their experience in the Championship...I don't think Forest have one of those. A niggly, irritating player who can wind up the opposition, draw the free kick, get the foul i.e. the dirty side of the game to wind down the clock or pop up with a match winning goal. After the flare players tire, bringing on extra legs and energy is sound, of course, and that came off yesterday vs Reading. But you may also need someone who can see out a game. ...and if said player can perform well in 1 game in 4 where it's tight, and you need that moment of match winning inspiration, then that's a lot of points over the course of the season.
Yes. A luxury match winner. Yesterday, the game (which seemed like a pitched battle) could have done with someone like Tomlin.
Do we need him? (...I can see the point of view that says we don't and can get better...) We'll soon find out if the paper story is true.

He still for me as the season goes will be first choice on the right side.
He's going to prove very effective...
He's exactly what Forest need.
