If we are playing well but not getting the run of the ball with results I would imagine he should be fine.
If we are playing poorly and getting thumped then the writing will be on the wall; there is no way that a side containing the players we have now should not be able to hold its own.
An indifferent start is not always a major handicap; I can vividly remember Frank Clarke's team, containing Stan, not getting going until November and still getting promoted.
The Championship novice bit, together with it being the hardest league out there is a myth; it is no harder or easier to win than any other league, and there are very rarely any hard luck stories.

very true. 8 preseason games to come for him to make his mind up on things. some good signings would lift everybody.
