There are heaps of bargains out there & the best way to find them is to scout them & to maximise success rate you need to scout them properly, off field & on, to make sure you've not just got the right player but also the right man.
Before we signed Kenny Burns our very own Meadows boy Peter Taylor dinner a flat cap, with peak pulled down low, turned up the collar of his raincoat & went off to the dog racing in Birmingham to follow Kenny around & to see exactly how much of his wages he was dropping on the dogs & to see how much he was drinking at night.
That's why the ridiculous gamble of Kenny Burns worked & why he went on to win 2 European cups & get crowned as the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.
It's because they'd scouted him inside & out & knew him better than he knew himself, so it wasn't a gamble, they knew he'd fit in & work.
Build the network up again, send the scouts out & they will find you your bargains, players that will work, for a price you can afford.
That's how to do recruitment.
