I said on another thread that when the window closed Wood was fit and starting games.
It's not Jesus fault that Wood gets injured for so long and Jesus has to start every PL game.
That wasn't the plan for him.
And if you wanted a direct replacement for Wood a 20 goal PL scorer last season (I think only Haaland and Salah scored more) we would have to stump up 80M and that will only get you a Sesko or a Gyokeres.
Wood cost £15, Taiwo £17m
Theres players out there, it just takes better recruiting. There's plenty of good examples at other clubs (as there are bad) but ours are what is dragging us towards relegation.
The fee depends on many things like remaining contract length etc.
Plus I wouldn't personally use Taiwo as a great example.
Wood has had one very good season with us to be fair but even he just like Jesus was getting dogs abuse when he first signed.
I still see that I am the only one to put some blame on our players who have thrown 2 managers this season under a bus plus Cooper at Fulham.
Missed penalties, stupid red cards, unable to take a corner kick and failing to beat Wolves, Crystal Palace, Everton twice, Braga, Sunderland etc etc because they wanted the manager out at the time.
Do people think that that sort of thing is okay?
Because I don't.
Like I keep saying it is too easy to just blame recruitment because there is more to our current league position than that.
I agree with you, have been saying for ages this group is overrated and I hate the downing of tools, in particular with Cooper.
The likes of CHO, MGW, Anderson are all overrated in terms of what they are contributing. (Although Anderson has looked good since Pereira came in). Ultimately these guys are meant to be the stars but they are key contributors to our lack of goals.
CHO missed that massive chance at the start of the game, Anderson had some shots in the area easily blocked and MGW had that massive chance at the end that he smashed straight at a defender. We need more attacking output from these guys to stay up ultimately.
