We did sign two strikers to complement the existing Chris Wood in the summer, just that one didn't see to want to be here and then Wood got injured.
Who is this mystical striker we could've signed that was better than Kali in the summer I'd be interested to know.
Newcastle paid 80m and 60m for Woltemade and Wissa, neither of which have done much. Wolves wanted 60m for JSL at the time, based on what Newcastle did the next tier down that we would be fishing in would be even worse.
Surely the best strategy was targetting young strikers to learn from Wood. Just too bad that it didn't work out with one and then Wood got injured.
The main issue this summer was surely that we had three swings at wingers to replace Elanga (and potentially CHO) and they have all failed pretty miserably so far for one reason or another. Hutchinson signing never seemed like good value at the time, no-one had heard of N'Doye and whilst a few posters loved Bakwa, he's been pretty bad so far.
