We should be buying players with the potential to replace any of the 10 above. We all know Anderson and likely Murillo are leaving, with injuries any would have got a chance to make themselves first choice. The point of keeping Silva? I would play him above either Ndoye or Bakwa anytime.
What I will totally accept is the issue isnt just recruitment and its not all down to Edu regardless.
Aye this isn't Edu bashing this is pointing squarely at the root of our problems this season, one way or another.
Sal mentions the centre forward as a priority, i obviously argue that a full back was just as important.
I can't buy this argument no-one will sign thinking they are a backup, players are routinely signed to challenge the player in their position. The Elanga replacement went horribly wrong but beyond that no-one appears to have been signed who could really cause the first XI any problems, maybe that has led to their drop in performance?
We're not scouts, but I could probably rattle off a few championship players who could have stepped up, as anyone can - far more than a foreign league of debatable quality. In hindsight i'd have kept Toff.
Most teams make signings when theres an established XI. Its for the new signings to break into it - particularly with the Europa games on offer and more games for injuries too lets not forget. You get the shirt, you fight to keep it.
