Tbf there's been consistent comments throughout this forum that the first XI are fine but even one or two injuries and we are well off it. As Wassy said Hutch hasn't quite been a success albeit at least he has challenged to be in first XI. Jesus has been a reasonable but of business but isnt the striker required to replace wood.

Beyond that it's been a lot of money spent for zero impact. Yes, wood is a huge miss but he shouldn't be to the extent we get relegated having spent £200m

Yes I get that and see where you are coming from.

As you said the first X1 are fine but there lies the problem for me.

What type of players can you realistcally expect to sign for us when they know that they are not going to be in the starting eleven when everyone is fit?

This is why I keep defending recruitment a bit.

Plus 200M sounds a lot but in all honesty in this day and age it isn't.

30M doesn't get you much nowadays when top players are going for 60,70,80M

I repeat recruitment has not been perfect but that applies to every club not just us.

I just think it is too easy to just blame recruitment or just blame Edu.

The players seem to escape blame but some of their actions are questionable.

Too much player power perhaps?

If a player doesn't like a manager fair enough but surely the players owe it to the fans and to the owner (who also needs to take some responsibility) to put a proper shift in and perform to the best of their ability no matter what.

Hand on heart I don't think we have seen that from the players at times.

We're on the wrong thread now but this argument doesn't hold water for me. Dont get the players wont sign because they know they wont play bit, thats nonsense. We qualified for europe for goodness sake, what more incentive do they need? We shouldn't be signing anyone who isn't confident enough or back themselves. If we havent bought players with that sort of character then yes that's a failing on how much research we did. Player power is a new thing but again we should be signing player we know are good character not divas who kick off the first time something goes wrong.

We have needed a new CF for the last 4 transfer windows and Jesus aside havent got one. Its not all on Edu but he takes responsibility now. Wilson didnt deliver either. we have spent £200m and not one of them has improved our starting 11 is a sad fact. I would have kept Jota Silva over quite a few of them.
