Yep, totally agree.
Ange is unlucky in that he's been handed a really difficult situation by EM (lots of fixtures/new players etc). Another top level experienced coach coming in might have taken stock, gone with a more cautious approach and not tinkered with much in the short term. But its easy to say that now. With a little more luck he might have got a couple of wins and Wassy is right, he would be ok, but that's water under the bridge now. He hasn't had the luck, he hasn't got the wins and us fans and most of the media can't see where the next one is coming from. On that basis, as unfortunate as it is, he's now a dead man walking and his tenure with us is in an unrecoverable position. As far as I'm concerned he had one last chance to get a win yesterday and he didn't manage to do it. I expect us to have a new manager come the Chelsea game.
What happens if we don't win the first 7 games under the new manager? Will we have to change again? It's a pretty dangerous precedent to set.
I think I'd let him do the next few games until the fixtures turn again and give the new manager the easier start. Who knows, maybe we randomly crush someone and go on a run. Last season was bad at Spurs but the first season he did take them back into the top 4 despite finishing mid table year before and losing Kane. Last season's issues were more about the self inflicted injuries which we haven't even got to yet here!
That said he's hardly looked like he has any idea what to do with the team. Playing 3 at the back yesterday after that so clearly didn't work on Thursday and having never used that tactic previously seems pretty questionable.
He found something first half against Betis and then after Luiz went off he changed it and never went back, why? Savona and Morato having to play is not a good enough reason to abandon all structure in my opinion.
That's it Wassy. He doesn't seem to have made any progress in the 7 games and he's still scratching around trying to find a foundation from which to build from. He can't carry on like that as he's run out of road. I changed my mind about him in just 45 minutes last Thursday. Before that I was willing to give him time and I could see positives. But he changed the formation and the team, again. He and everyone knew that Midtjylland were a big team and good at set plays. And yet the first goal we conceded was a carbon copy of the goal we let in just 4 days earlier versus Sunderland. What were they working on all week?
I blame EM as much as I blame Ange. When he came in Ange was still surrounded by negativity from last season. That, and the complete contrast in playing styles should have been enough for EM to go for someone else.
