I think its fairly clear its not going to work with Ange although not sure anyone expected it to go this badly.
However, where we are at the moment, should we actually sack him assuming we lose to Newcastle?
Pro's: International break is an ideal time to make a change, and give them a little time to get bedded in. Its clearly going to happen at some point so may as well accept defeat and move on.
Cons: Going to be tough to persuade a new manager to take over at this point. We're not going to be able to get one of the more desirable names and will be likely fishing in the unemployed pool again, will people be any happier with Rafa? Does sacking someone after 6 games make us appealing for future hires after this one too?
Weirdly, I think there's a good argument to leave Ange through the next four games (whilst presumably sounding out a replacement). Newcastle, Chelsea, Porto, Bournemouth. Do we really expect if Ange is gone on Monday the replacement does any better?
If you wait till after Bournemouth defeat and its presumably 10 games without a win his position is clearly untenable and other prospective candidates would accept that. Plus a new manager would take over a much kinder fixture swing. Obviously there's a slim chance, however unlikely that we win a few of these games, build momentum and paper over the cracks a bit. The main downside is we would likely be bottom 3 and in danger of getting knocked out of Europa!
Shows its a tough decision. I think if we get battered by Newcastle he'll go regardless. If its a close loss, they might go with the above approach, if we don't lose he survives!
