a) It is difficult to win matches in the Premier League. Probably even more so this season with the ambitious dealing of the 3 promoted clubs. I don’t think people appreciate this enough.

b) Europe has a deleterious effect on the league performance. We’ve only played one match but rotation / energy levels aside we lost our marquee summer signing to injury in it.

c) It takes time to integrate a significant number of signings, especially from foreign leagues. We have had to make a significant number of signings to cope with the extra demands of European football, and don’t have the luxury of time before throwing them into action.

People talk about Iraola and Glasner being ideal coaches out of our reach.

Iraola got 3 points from his first 9 league matches at Bournemouth and he’d taken over a side that had been doing well under the previous coach. 3 points from 9 matches, no wins. Conceded 20 goals.

Glasner beat Burnley in his first match, though no wins in his next 5. And the start of his first full season he was winless after 8 matches, drawing 3 and losing 5.

The modern mindset of dopamine-chasing instant gratification probably needs to pause on a Sunday and reflect on reality.

Fair points and credit where it’s due I honestly didn’t think Iraola and Glasner records were that bad especially Iraola. He must have had them in the bottom 3 then or did they already have points on board when he came?  Can’t remember.

Checked Iraola and they were bottom 3 in late October after 9 matches; above Sheff Utd on 1 point and a points-deducted Everton on -1.

Though he did get a win in his 4th match overall; in the Carabou Cup they won…away at Swansea  :Afraid:
