Ignoring all the vitriol I am intrigued to know why folk think that what has happened, to Forest’s benefit and Palace’s loss, is the responsibility of Parish. He, or his club, have no control over shares owned by another shareholder. The most that could have been done was identify an issue, point it out and request that steps were taken. They could not take those steps themselves. Only the shareholder could and when the relationship had broken down, primarily because they wanted to make the club a MCO and Parish refused, that wasn’t going to happen.

The responsibility lies entirely with Textor and if, as has been reported, further legal action is being contemplated it would appear most likely to be directed at him on the basis that Directors should always act in the best interests of the organisation.

Attacks on Parish and Palace seem, in my opinion, to be misguided.

The plain and simple fact that Forest fans are attacking Parrish and Palace is because, it is those two that decided to smear our name through the courts and somehow put the blame onto Marinakis and NFFC. The latest slur on our owners character is that he is in an informal MCO with Textor, because we have bought a couple of players from his clubs. Ridiculous!
At the start of all of this, I was of the opinion that Palace should be allowed to remain in the Europa League and we take our place in the Conference, as Palace earned their place on sporting merit. However, the fact that Parrish, not Textor or anybody else associated with CPFC, apart from their fans, has constantly tried to blame all of this on Forest, even after the matter went to CAS and it was thrown out, has certainly swayed my opinion of the whole sorry affair.

Not once has Parrish or Textor held their hands up and said, OK, we did screw up, even if its a little bit, but no he has to keep on the charade that it is all down to Evangelis Marinakis and Nottingham Forest FC.

Can you answer me a question? In your opinion, which you are entitled to of course, why is it misguided of Forest fans to attack Parrish and Palace, yet it is perfectly fine for them to attack us? You say Palace and Parrish have done nothing wrong. But Forest and Marinakis havent either, but it seems ok for them to constantly whip up a frenzy amoungst Palace supporters just a week or so before the two sides play each other in the league, thus making it a very unsafe place for our fans to visit?

I look forward to a reasonable response

Parish, their owner/chairman/CEO (whatever he is), took the investment off Textor in the first place. He allowed the guy to buy into his club. Here's a Parish quote at the time:

"We have been looking for the right investment for the right investor for a while, both to progress the club and deal with the significant financial challenges of the past 18 months due to COVID"

So he took Textor's money to get Palace through the Covid period. Did it not occur to him at the time that he might need to impose a restriction on Textor buying another European club while holding Palace shares, or was he just so desperate to get the cash he took whatever deal was on offer? If you introduce people onto your board, do you not have discussions beforehand about matters such as these?

I’ll answer both of the last posts here, if I may. I think it’s misguided to attack Parish and Palace because they were powerless to affect this, even if they believed they were part of an MCO, even by UEFA’s illogical reasoning or that an arbitrary date applied to them, but not to others. Forest fans, along with any others like Simon Jordan, get criticised for failing to understand that. They also get criticised for the hypocrisy involved in defending the fig leaf of a whitewash that UEFA have allowed to disguise those who truly are MCO’s. Proper fans can see that whichever club they support and defending the indefensible does Forest no favours in the wider football community.

Rules might be rules but they aren’t laws and any rule that fails to achieve its stated purpose runs the risk of being declared unlawful by a Court and compensation awarded for consequential losses. The problem here being that every club has to agree to the rules on joining so it would take a clever lawyer to work out the strategy.

Aside from that it seems obvious that Palace and their lawyers must have had sight of the correspondence between OL and UEFA and Forest and UEFA. You wouldn’t hame them a co-respondents otherwise. It is known that there are factions within UEFA, one of whom is sympathetic to Palace’s case. That correspondence was requested to be disclosed and for witnessed to be cross examined. This was refused. It wouldn’t be in a Court.

So Palace fans also criticise Forest fans for thinking this is all down to a schoolboy error by Parish when it’s very much more complicated than that. The integrity of football is in play here, which is something we should all agree about, putting rivalry aside.

Yes, during Covid, Parish welcomed Textor’s investment but at the time Palace were the only club he had any interest in and it had been agreed he would hold limited voting rights. OL came later and caused them to fall out, for Textor to first try to acquire the whole club, then buy Everton before deciding to sell. Parish is passionately opposed to the whole idea of MCO in football. The fans were always suspicious about Textor and have made several protests about him. Parish is foremost a fan. He is at one with them. Unlike some Chairmen.

I trust that’s reasonable enough and that the rhetoric can now be tuned out.

Mate, go back to whichever Palace forum you came from. That's the biggest load of rubbish I've heard in ages. Honestly, you and your Palace mates are absolutely delusional. You go on about "illogical reasoning", "arbitrary dates", "whitewashes". Oh my. It's gone, all of that has been tested in a court now and those arguments have failed. As for carping on about a witness not being allowed to be cross examined, oh my word, what utter shite that is.

Honestly, it's like you've all been taken over by a cult or something.
I regret to tell you that the stance you take above, which seems to be shared by some other Forest fans, is what is delusional.

It’s not “gone”. Only the illogical decision has reached the point of no return but the underlying issue of the poor quality of governance from EUFA is much more important and that hasn’t gone anywhere. This decision has put it out in the open and under a spotlight. When an appeal arrangement is unable to truly examine the evidence something is clearly wrong.

We are about to have a new football regulator, charged with ensuring the heritage of our clubs is not undermined by overseas money. I anticipate the fit and proper person test to be significantly tightened and probably retrospectively applied. Do we really want our clubs run by oil rich sheiks, Russian pals of Putin, American speculators or Greek billionaires whose wealth origins have question marks hanging over them?

I expect a file about this case to be top of the new regulators’s inbox.
