I've been wondering that for a while, if you can spread amortisation via a new contract. You'd have thought they'd want to keep him regardless too. Not sure how we'd find out.
The problem comes towards the end of the contract period where the player's contribution on the pitch isn't equivalent to the high wage being paid and they hang around and drain resources.
