How about we sell Awoniyi for £40m and give Wood another year on reduced terms?

Ha Awoniyi is worth more than 40m but also what a strange decision that would be. Sell our star striker so we could keep a 32 year old journeyman striker for another two years? Doesn't seem like a smart play (unless we're in the championship of course)

He is nowhere near the finished article and has missed two substantive periods of football through injury. I suspect that from the outside looking in that he is seen to be a risk, hence why Chelsea ultimately went elsewhere.

As it stands we need to sell players at the height of their value to operate within P&S to enable continual investment and growth in the squad.

Based on the general values of strikers up until this window then yes definitely. Injuries aside he has all the attributes to play for a top team, pace and strength, look how much Liverpool paid for the same thing with Nunez. 

Regardless, if we were going to sell 40m isn't the peak of his value, he's worth more than 40m to us.
