The stakes are high for the owner. Get this decision wrong and we most likely get relegated with a massive wage bill. Last time it took us 23 years to get back. Premier league is tough. There are no easy points. The owner needs to be confident any new manager will get better results than Cooper. We do know Cooper got us out of a tight spot last season. For me sacking Cooper at this point of the season is a gamble. Any more Fulhamesque capitulation’s would probably change that calculation. There have been some massive question marks about our recruitment over the last 12 months. Cooper has to take some responsibility. The Wood and Shelvey signings come to mind the most and these have really handicapped us in the transfer market this summer. I would stick with Cooper for now but he needs to get the most out of this squad which he assembled. If we stay up there needs to be strategic recruitment and not scattergun as it so often appears.
