To be fair, it's very difficult to find "match winners on their own" for any amount of money. Colleymore looks to have been a once in a generation signing for Forest. For two years he was arguably the most devastating player in the country. Its a team game and Carvalho, whilst blessed with fantastic individual ability, is a team player. No one -not even Stan won games on their own. Franks team was solid at the back and had good ball players, with pace going forward. The other players helped Stan thrive.
I wish we had the patience to build a team around Carvalho, but in reality we probably don't. Gullit though? Not in he Championship. When you look at the players signed for big money in the Championship it is interesting: McCormack, kodja, Hogan, Neves, Carvalho spring to mind.
