A Few more Comments.........
hate sky and can’t stand their obvious biases, they willed NF on all game.
Forest have barely met each other and still got the points.
Probably predictably Forest came out strong, but withered quite quickly. At the first water break they were still the better team on balance of play, but we had already worked out their threat, but had resorted to long, deep crosses that were being very ineffective - the Forest defence got away with murder defending them and corners
Forget 90 minutes, that game could have lasted 90 weeks and we still wouldnt have scored
Forest so lucky though and on another day some of those off the post go in and the penalty is a better one..
We don’t look good defensively at all- something we were good at last year. Wonder if that’s down to pearce’s departure..
Credit to Forest, Henderson in goal pulled off plenty of good saves, Neco Williams for his attacking and crossing and Brennan Johnson stood out to me.
We don't look ready and up for a long PL season.
A lot of huff and puff against a poor Forest team.
A Forest team who were bang up for their first PL game in 20+ years
This was always going to be difficult.
Their defence was better than ours. On paper and on the pitch. If that doesn’t focus the mind on what we need to do before the window closes nothing will.
Sorry, Forrest where there for the taking, we were dog **** today. You reap what you sow
rather than it being the other teams use if the dark arts , this was down to our own stupidity and the ref.
a tad worried that Benny might have been giving Forest a 'come and get me' performance! Especially if he knows Moyes doesn't have faith in him.
Going toe to toe and losing to a very poor, newly promoted side, is not a good look for the season ahead.
Let’s be honest it was never going to be a walk in the park. A forest side on the up, newly promoted, new signings wanting to make their mark, last years squad fighting for the place and wanting to cement places. A bouncing ground. Oppressively hot conditions et. etc
defeat to a scuffed shot, a missed pen, dubious refereeing and some poor luck. Yep. Execute the lot of em
FWIW, we are not the first team to look a bit shell-shocked against a rampant new team on their first home game since promotion
This isn't ice hockey, Antonio cleaned the forest player out with arms in front of him, it was a clear foul.
Forest didn't offer too much except they looked lively and mobile, particularly up front. We had Antonio, who didn't look either.
I kept seeing cut away pictures of Forest's Jabba owner mumbling and crossing himself in the stands. The luck they had today made me wonder if he was using some voodoo spells on their goal or remote controlling the ref. Who was that ref anyway? He was so cr*p I was almost wishing for Mike Dean to come back out of retirement.
Today we lost to a side that will be going straight back down to The Championship
Antonio’s temper tantrums ultimately led to the disallowance. Until a couple of years ago it wouldn’t have been questioned. But his frustrations combined with VAR meant a cheap shove will always offer the opportunity to Shockley Park to find a fault. Particularly one that looks worse in slow motion and from a certain angle
A 2-0 loss to the bazillionaire favourites for the title and a 1-0 away at a newly promoted team’s big jamboree (with numerous unlucky near-misses), whilst disappointing, are really not worthy of some of the self-flagellation and calls for the manager’s head that I’m reading on here.
Forest, great to see them up, but they will struggle, they got very lucky today but if they finish 4th from bottom you won’t hear me complaint, proper club with proper fans
they were not great. The number 9 did look strong and made good runs, Lingard didn't particularly pull up any trees and apart from trying to get the ball in the box early from Williams they didn't really have any incisive play and I wasn't particularly impressed with them defensively
Forest were good, but to be honest rode their luck a bit. I think a draw would have been about right
Make no mistake, that was 3 points dropped today. From what I saw, Forest will do well to stay up.
After watching that I think Forest will have a very long season ,most other clubs will not be as generous as we were today and to be quite honest they could only beat us by a fluke goal .
I can see them getting quite a few good hidings and it was good to see how **** Lingard was.
Whichever way you slice it... We've made winning the title extremely hard
Cooper makes Dowie look like Brad Pitt.
He does look like Harry Redknapp and Iain Dowies lovechild. Good manager nonetheless.
Forest were no great shakes, but fair play to their fans: they turned up, and good luck to them, but they shouldn't be deceived by the result. They are bottom 6 material.
What worries me is every few seasons we fight relegation or have a bad season its happened in the pass I think this season could be it
I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but as Rice was lining up his spot kick, Lingard was indicating to Henderson where he was going to put it. And he was spot on.
Despite their win I believe Forest will struggle this season. They were dreadful last week and very fortunate today. They won't survive defending like that.
Finally, that was the hottest I've been at a football match since the opening day of the 87/88 season when we beat Portsmouth 2-1 at Fratton Park and everyone in the away end (an open terrace) came home with a sun tan. It didn't help being sat in the second row in the full glare of the sun!
Man I don't like Jesse Lingard, he's stitched us right up this summer and then told Henderson which way to dive as well, as well as diving to get Rice booked.
Antonio 7/10????
It was his stupidity that got the goal ruled out… he was throwing a tantrum for not getting free kicks and run into the defender on purpose
Go straight out and put money on Forest going down. They’ve used up half a season’s luck and will struggle for points when the euphoria dies down.
That said, credit to them today. They made a racket, their team kept going under pressure and the supporters I met were all good natured.
Lots of hard work from Forest, which I like, but little quality. I appreciated that when they lost the ball, they fought for it. One player ran half the pitch to win it back.
Nice to see a proper ground as well
If Forest can pick up these kind of points before they get their first team settled and gelled, that will be the difference for them
I thought they gave us some problems when attacking but a lot of teams are going to hit them for 2 or 3 goals should they continue to defend like they did today. Perhaps more cohesion will come when their team gels properly.
The football gods shone down on Forest today. Cooper is a lucky manager but they’ll go down I think
Forest did really well - esp. first 25 minutes or so. MOTM for me was one of three - Henderson in goal, (Nico?) Williams, or the crossbar. The first two played great and stood out from the crowd. Good luck to them both. The third was a bit static and stoic for me but what do I know. Forest came out of the blocks raring to go and had us looking like mugs for the first 25 minutes or so - no-one but us to blame for that.
Couldn't care less about who 'deserved' to win - bottom line is despite the crossbar, goal line clearances or what colour undies your grandma was wearing we came away with zilch. Next time out we need to recognise when the ref gives that big long peeep at the start of the match, that's when we have to start playing.
Funny old game, we could still be playing now and not score - Ball did not bounce kindly for us ye
