His attacking is constantly praised, but I also think he has been key in defence this season. He's rapid, tall and strong, not much gets away from him, making us difficult to play on the break. I thought he was particularly fantastic in all of the bigger games this season, were some of the other key players have faded a little.
I want to echo this bit. Some people (not on here) claiming Djed Spences performances had dipped in last month of season. Total boll@x in my book. His eye-catching forward play might have decreased in amount, but he has helped keep the back door shut superbly. Second half in both semi final legs and final he defended superbly.
Hope we sign him as he is an integral part of the way we play and the changing room atmosphere.
I think teams honed in on stopping him and Johnson later in the season. Just shows the importance of getting a good LWB to give us an outlet on the left to take advantage. Jack was excellent defensively but obviously not got the pace to play the same role as Spence
They certainly tried too. Mainly by putting much more pressure on Worrall when he had possession it seemed. Still caused enough problems and goals though. Just wanted to debunk the "dodgy defensively" myth about Spence.
Agree re left, though there are alot of quick athletes knocking about for Cooper to work his magic on. The key element appears to be pace. - Bell at Luton was decent for instance.
Whoever plays that side will be lacking numbers as we attack if we keep the current shape regardless.
