It's The Final Countdown Continued..........
Huddersfield Fans Pre Match Comments......
Back 4 pretty average is doing them a disservice to be honest - Worrall is very good and will certainly be off to the prem if they don’t go up. They’ve conceded 7 less than us this season after having a shocking start.
Don’t judge their last performance as their quality over the whole season.
90th minute winner I can see , either rhodes or Holmes to score, jumping into stand celebrating with us and Holmes gives the wanker sign towards the forest fans and see them lot cry and start the fireworks
They are clear favourites & were the underdogs
It’s the reversal of the semi final but we saw that was close… and could have gone the other way
There’s nothing to say it can’t go out way on the day
We’ve got a good habit of not conceding when under pressure and scoring a set piece winner
Add to that in m our last 4 appearances in the play off finals we’ve scored 0, conceded 3 but been promoted 3 times - never write us off!
That is an incredible stat.
I’m confused that we’ve conceded 3 but scored none, are you including penalties in this?
In 90 mins & extra time in all 5 play off finals we’ve been in we’ve scored 2, conceded 4 in 5 games and been promoted 4 times
95 Bristol R 2-1
04 Mansfield 0-0 (4-1 pen)
11 Peterborough 0-3
12 Sheff Utd 0-0 (8-7 pen)
17 Reading 0-0 (4-3 pen)
Aha, makes sense now! Crazy stat indeed
And if we win we'll be 5 time play off champions. Can anyone beat that? Think Blackpool have 4...
Feel a bit sorry for Pearson who's been a big part of our defence most of this campaign. Lees is playing at his maximum just now though, but my concerns are over Colwill,Sarr and Pipa who to me all have a mistake in them.
Turton has done well so I'd have him in a back 4..with Toffs at lb. We can't afford to leave space behind our fullbacks or we will be fully exposed.. I remember that 1st half at forest in the cup where Ruffles had an absolute nightmare at lb and was taken off at half time..
With you on that & I'd be delighted if he could play a part in this, but my gut tells me - particularly given he's not even been on the bench - that he won't be involved.
Could really use the solidity he provides if he is available though.
With you on leaving space behind fullbacks. They are outstanding on the wings & can carve sides open if you give them the opportunity. As much as I rate Pipa, I think this is a game for Turton.
Surprised to read it's Forest's first trip to Wembley since '92?
I make this our 6th trip there in that time?
Crystal Palace also have 4. But I think that's it.
The key advantage we hold over them is fitness & resilience. In both semis they looked leggy as f**k after 60 min and were a yard off the pace all over the pitch, and with better finishing the Blades would have killed them off. If we can keep them at bay for that long then the more time drags on, the more it will favour us.
Actually wish this game was tomorrow and get it out of the way.
Going to be a long 10 days.
We have nothing to fear, yes, they are a good side & the manager is as good as he is ugly, but we are a good side too, with a half decent manager to boot.
They may be the bookies favourites but serious gamblers will likely be on us.... we finished above them, have a seriously good play off record & have a much better record over the last 5 or 6 games. The pressure is all on Forest, who, apparently, only have to turn up to win.
I believe they edge it on individual skill but I'd back our team spirit over anyone's.
Let's just enjoy it, trust in the lads &, whatever happens, we have far surpassed this season what anyone on here thought at the start of the season.
Its all about the pressure. Those players are not robots and they will be feeling it. The Premier League, ok some will never get to step out on the grass next season, but you know they want it. They want the Cup, they want the glory. This isn't like a normal league game, its immense. A single moment, a single mistake or a flash of brilliance from either side can win it. Expect Thomas to start, quality balls right from the off. Rhodes has a calm head, I think we will score at least once in 90 minutes, then its down to Nichols and the defence to keep it clean. How is anybody going to get any sleep over the next 10 days
Far too many players deserving to start at this point. By my reckoning:
Nicholls, Turton, Pipa, Pearson, Lees, Hogg, Colwill, Sarr, Toffolo, Russell, O'Brien, Holmes, Sinani, Thomas, Ward, and Rhodes all deserve a starting spot based on their performances in the last 5 games (apart from Pearson who was injured but still a key figure when he was playing). That makes 16.
Defence is very, very settled so can't see Pearson forcing his way back in. We know it won't be both Ward and Rhodes (I'm tempted to start Ward and introduce Rhodes). Turton if fit I think should be on the bench with Pipa starting. Colwill I think would deal with their type of attacking threat better than Sarr (who's ideal for defending last minute hit and hopers).
That leaves an awkward trilemma of Holmes, Sinani, and Thomas, 1 of whom won't start. Holmes was our best outlet in the first half on Monday and was good in the away leg too, so it would be very harsh to drop him. Sinani played the best I've ever seen him in the away leg, so likewise. And Thomas not only delivered the perfect balls but was so fired up off the ball as well. Someone answer for me!
I think that Carlos will go 4-3-3 starting Turton, Holmes and Sinani
Hogg in midfield
Expect that subs will be Thomas, Pipa and Anjorin barring injuries
If Thomas is fit he has to play he’s too important not too, it’s not just the set pieces it’s his pace and ability to stretch sides.
Previous history & Stats mean nowt.
I honestly think we've the experience, calmness & nous to win this in normal time.
Think it would be absolutely crazy to start Thomas on the bench tbh.
Don’t disagree. I’m just saying what I think Carlos will do. Thomas hasn’t played 90 minutes for a month and he may want him fresh for the second half of the game.
Would be shocked if Thomas isn’t the first name on the team sheet. Might be Holmes starting on the bench.
The only comment I will make is Forest will be more nervous than us, if we can press from the off and get an early goal, Hugh pressure will mount on Forest, they know we are good at seeing out games, and a defence to die for.
Another plus for us is the V.A.R, it is very handy to have, when you have bent refs and not get the important decisions you deserve.
If we win and go up, would we become a yo-yo club?
I could live with that.
Not sure if there are any stats but generally the team that is already the better equipped on the field to play in the premier league wins the play off. We were better equipped than reading, I think forest are better equipped than us. Just.
Dear.. my brother in law (#nffc fan) purchased his Wembley ticket for the game v #htafc.. and received an email from a supporters group with a printable lyrics sheet for their big day.. even #dcfc fans wouldnt stoop so low..
Probably fake bollocks - like a lot of stuff on social media nowadays.
It's a Derby fan taking the piss
Thought so. Much like the one circulating on the Forest forums where we are supposedly asking Derby fans to turn up and support us!
It is sad and shocking how much total bollocks is believed on social media nowadays. Suppose it doesn’t matter re football matters but unfortunately people believe a right load of crap on important issues as well
Still a week and a bit to go, but what’s the news on Ward? Rhodes would be a very capable stand in, but the concern is Ward not even making the bench, then Rhodes gets crocked.
With Rhodes’s strike rate, it’s probably better to have him on the pitch for 90 mins.
Whatever happens, Carlos will have a plan…
Any news on their injury list? I think they’ve got Davis back now.
Yes he's back but the rest I suspect we won't hear, be silence from both camps not giving anything away I'd suspect
My personal feeling is we need to press very high against that back 3 like Sheffield United did in the 2nd leg. They aren't the most mobile of defenders and will concede set pieces in the process. For that reason We have to start sinani Thomas for deliveries and ward to lead from the front.
Got to fancy us here. All the pressure & weight of history on Forest. They’ve bottled it once this year at Bournemouth and did their best in the semi.
Thomas got to start. Can’t carry both Holmes & Sinani as we did against Luton in the second leg.
Play Pipa for his pace over Turton. Big pitch at Wembley.
Was also thinking that we have one big factor in our favour. Carlos on the touch line - far better looking than Cooper. You saw it when Forest blew it against Bournemouth - players looking to the touchline and seeing Cooper next to Parker, who I think is a very good looking geezer, and you could see their heads drop. Those are the fine margins that can make the difference.
It's not exactly going well for Gareth 'I'm a handsome lion" Ainsworth
The pressure and weight of expectation is all on Forest from their own fans and the media. Lots of social media posts trying to wind Town fans up about how many tickets we’ve sold etc.
For me, we go down there as underdogs despite our experiences. This should suit us. Whatever happens, all the social media posts, sound bites, media snipes mean jack; the result on the pitch is what matters and if we shithouse a 1-0 win, NO-ONE and NOTHING can change that we would be winners in the history books.
We need to press high, I think we’ll do it in waves but not sustained like the blades did - that’s too high risk for Carlos now.
The blades were very aggressive and that completely rattled Forest. Would like us to match that but I don’t think we’ve got that in us.
Johnson does not like a scrap, looked like he was going to start crying when he was getting kicked. We need to get on his touch and have him playing with his back to goal.
So I've read a lot about the pitch size, and seen as Britain's Got Talent is complete shite then I looked it up...
The Wembley pitch is 105 x 68.
Ours iis 105 x 69
City Ground is 105 x 71
I Don't know how or if that helps
Pressure is all on them with this "premier league exiles" bullshit
Plus we've been to the prem recently and we know its a bit shit
My prediction - Town win and loads of pissed off media and football elites
Sorba has to start, its a one off game and we need to start the game with our strongest team.Forest will come out firing and we need to do the same,f**k this saving players its shit or bust so get out there and go for the jugular
