All three of them put together are not as good as Spence!!
Isaiah Jones is probably the best right back in the league.
Was a bit of a throwaway comment based on how fantastic Spence has been and how much of an off night Jones was having last night. Comparisons are interesting though, albeit mostly based on 4 sightings of Jones (plus a few googled stats).
- Both super fast, foot race would be very tight.
-Jones appears a bit more composed in final 3rd, though last night blazed over bar from silly angle when easy pass to team mate would be almost certain goal, also terrible touch when put in near by line. However 1 goal and 6 assists so far.
-Spence has 1 goal and no assists (though pen won should count). But lots of goal involvements. (Can't find numbers of each to compare,).
-Both have lack of concentration moments in defence, but 1v1 both are near unbeatable.
-Spence significantly better in air.
-Both drive their team forward.
-This season Soccerbase has both with very similar overall scores, Spence marginally, though insignificantly higher (by 0.02).
-Both similar age.
I would normally say that Jones has come from non league so has most potential, however Spence has a more athletic physique and was released by Fulham and not wanted by Boro so something drastic must have changed? (Cooper's influence,?).
In short, Both are a good fit where they are. I still wouldn't swap Spence for Jones (even if the other 2 were thrown in) due to his importance to us plus I'm old fashioned and like my full backs to be strong headers of the ball especially at back post.
Fullbacks that can head the ball. Oh yes.
You don't want someone like Alan Rogers who struggled on the back post. Too short, couldn't head...
SA.
