To clarify this point about the costs of replacing manager and whether it counts towards P&S.
P&S is based on adjusted earnings before tax
Form EFL:
1.1.2 Adjusted Earnings Before Tax means Earnings Before Tax adjusted to exclude costs (or estimated costs as the case may be) in respect of the following:
(a) depreciation and/or impairment of tangible fixed assets;
(b) amortisation or impairment of goodwill and other intangible assets (but excluding amortisation and/or impairment of the costs of players’ registrations);
© Women’s Football Expenditure;
(d) Youth Development Expenditure;
(e) Community Development Expenditure; and
(f) in respect of Seasons 2019/20 and 2020/21 only, COVID-19 Costs.
So yes paying off managers, backroom teams and appointing a new one does count.
Warburton, Karanka , ONeill, Lamouchi, Hughton.
Plus all their backroom staff
We are paying for them all.
Don't buy a new striker for £2 or 3 mill and then as a consequence sack the manager & his team at a cost of £2 or 3 Mill. And the new manager then hasn't got a striker. Not easy, these decisions.
So I guess the question is will CH be able to keep us up with the help of a new striker in January and then replace him in the summer when his contract expires. Or get rid now and therefore we can no longer afford a striker.
I get we've shown absolutely nothing to suggest CH can turn this around but I'm really unconvinced another manager will do loads better after perhaps a little bounce.
We've just not got a great team, not sure what people were expecting its broadly the same team as last year except we've lost Krov, Knockaert and Christie and replaced with Brennan, Zinck and one of our many right backs.
Its a bit of a theoretical exercise and nonsense really from me as there's more to our current woes than the lack of a striker. But January is no time to buy a striker. If we couldn't find one in August that suits our budget then there's no way we're getting one in in January. My wish would be a modern day Adebola or Murphy. A striker whose best days are behind him but who's still effective from the bench, and who's not on silly money.
The ML Soccer League end in November if I'm not mistaken so maybe DM has some potential targets from there. Barnsley loaned Daryl Dike in January.
