Budget - Speculate To Accumulate?

Remember the team on Saturday are derby and if we don’t put on a decent display then the proletariat will become beyond restless.
It might certainly be defining game for CH but I would suggest Randall and Murphy start looking over their shoulders too because even the most stupid amongst the fan base will see that making no permanent outfield signings during the whole summer is what has destroyed this season, irrespective of what people think of CH’s skills.
There can only be three possible reasons why we are in this situation
1. There is no money (in which case we have been mislead)
2. We have not identified realistic targets (in which case the scouting and recruitment team are not doing their job and need replacing) or
3. We have identified realistic targets but have not correctly identified the necessary budget for those players.

Option 3 has already spawned a plethora of speculative theories; is it EM not backing us with the cash? Is it ventros hobbling Murphy? Is it Randall interfering or Murphy going off-piste in budget terms to make a ‘name’ for himself and putting a complete spanner in the works?

Whatever the reason I can see protests at the ground round the corner without a massive change.
Whatever the reason, we have either been lied to or incompetence exists in some of the crucial roles behind the scenes (which let’s be honest we’ve had years of evidence for anyway).

Sorry but please show me where we've been told there is a massive budget? All we've been told is that we're fine for FFP, that is not the same thing.
Sorry but show me where I said we had a ‘massive budget’.
I said identifying ‘realistic’ targets- ie in line with our budget, whatever that is, which presumably will have been calculated agreed and signed off at the summer meeting in Greece.
That budget may indeed have included or relied on the sale of worral or Brennan. However we don’t have to get those funds in before we make purchases; we could still buy this summer if we had the backing with subsequent sales in January.
So we are back to a funding or competence question aren’t we?

In reply:

You implied no money was a lie, Randall never said we had money, just simply that we wouldn't fail FFP.

You are right though in that we could spend now and sell in Jan to avoid failing FFP, bit risky but that is a fair point. I wouldn't call that being lied to though, quite a big accusation. Also, perhaps one that needs to wait till after the window closes?
