i think we have the makings of an exciting midfield/front line, i quite like the idea in some games of not playing a striker at all but a fluid midfield, even so i think Grabban is a terrific asset as well but more about pulling defenders out of position, sideways and up the pitch or having more scenarios where players are running at them and nullifying there bread and butter clearing high balls, just some games, but if we were feeling adventurous ...

Assuming a deep 'starting position' and Yates and even Soh can bomb on occassionally or leave McKenna or Worral up now and again

Wait a minute.  Hughton's been pilloried by some on these board for the style of football.  Or the lack of goals.  (Both of which are down to recruitment that he wasn't in charge of...)

...and you want him to field a team without a striker?

I'll be surprised if Forest play 3 at the back.  And you want Car' and Johnston in the same team?

We're entitled to dream, I guess.

TBF, having Carvalho and Johnson in the same team could actually work, provided Carvalho was to play central just behind the wingers. He does have the vision to find a good through ball, on which Johnson or Mighten, with their pace could run on to.

The only problem to that is if Carvalho has done enough to convince Hughton he is worthy of a shirt in the starting XI

Car' did very little out on loan blowing typically (initially) hot and very much cold.  

This is 'last chance saloon' with Carvalho.  Hughton's a fairly honest manager and will give him it straight.  You have to work hard for the team, track back, challenge for the ball etc.  It's a 'team thing.'

I have noted Car's involvement in pre-season as Hughton runs the slide rule over all the returning loan players.  Car's had some moments of typical skill which he is capable of.  But there have been the same moments of frustration re: the basics.  If any manager can get a 'tune' out this player, it's Hughton.

The no.10 position could very much do with bringing in a player with energy, guile and can impose themselves on the game.  And hold the ball up...and bang in the odd goal.  Forest just didn't have that last season.  And it showed.  Krov' helped knit midfield to attack.  But it looks like the goal return wasn't enough for Forest to pursue a return seriously.

It will be interesting to see the line up vs Coventry.
