I agree with that Sniff, I question whether he wants it enough too. I dont like it when people say he shirks tackles and doenst have a backbone, dont think thats fair which is why I was grumpy to Tricky yesterday. I don’t necessarily think he needs to spend time in the gym but yes I take your point is he on the beach or is he practicing to be a better footballer?
There are 3 basic problems with him
The financial burden he places on the club
The fact he is only really effective in one position
His attitude/determination to succeed- no proof of this just sense it.
On the plus side though you have a player when utilised properly is a match winner which is why I cherry picked the stats from the one season he was played effectively. The other thing which is important is the entertainment value. Our younger fans idolised him that first year, we need more of that, players that get them excited and make them want to come to the games, Mighten and Johnson hopefully can do the same.
Carvalho is still only 24, there is still time for him, but if the club are to continue spending £3M a year for him he needs to show us he wants to be here too.
