As for Wigan they won the FA Cup but now find themselves in League 1 after staying up by the skin of their teeth on the last day otherwise they would now be in league 2.
I suppose all this means that having a new stadium guarantees nothing. I get the impression that some might think that the increase in income etc etc automatically guarantees that we'll be competing with the best clubs again but sadly it doesn't.
