There will obviously be the 3 relegated clubs coming down.
But of the 3 relegated clubs from last season, Norwich and Watford have gone straight back up and Bournemouth are in the playoffs.
As for clubs relegated 2 years ago, they get a smaller amount in year 3 and only Cardiff and Huddersfield are left (the other was Fulham).
It could be our year!
That is a good point actually, ideally for us its Brentford or Bournemouth that go up. Barnsley would not be good for us.
In addition there will be other clubs that can't afford to strengthen and have to sell to survive. Also some that might get points deductions for FFP reasons...
And I cant imagine Sheff Utd being the type of club who will take the financial gamble of going straight back up, or who are a model of a well run club. They didn't invest when in the prem so of the 3 sides coming down, we might find that they accept their fate and downsize, a bit like Huddersfield have done. That's not to say they don't have good players, just that they wont be running at a huge loss thinking they're only going to be down for one season.
If I'm not completely wrong I believe they have invested in excess of £100 million on players since joining the PL two seasons ago. Maybe not a huge amount compared to other PL teams but still a lot of money. The wage bill is probably not that high though.
Wow, I'm surprised at that if it's true. I dont really pay much attention to prem football to be honest but have always assumed they are a side of good championship players who had been moulded into a unit by a decent manager.
