Maybe we arent a million miles apart now. Christie was a loan so RB still needs addressing. The point is if an ounce of common sense had been applied last summer then it wouldnt have been as big a job this summer. Buying players who are only good enough as back up is ridiculous in my opinion and partly explains why we have gone backwards. On top of which we have Bong Jenkinson Blackett Colback Arter Bachirou and Taylor all contracted for the coming season none of whom are good enough but are draining funds we dont have.

I don't think it was about a lack of common sense, just a few of the key signings failed fairly spectacularly. I agree Blackett and Fred were unnecessary as we had players in those positions already. There were attempts to address all the gaps aside from AM although Sabri didn't use one so it wasn't necessary.

Taylor and Arter going so badly has really cost us as they were key signings on likely decent wages. I personally thought they looked decent enough on paper, obviously I don't watch loads of Bournemouth and Charlton games so it's tough to really tell too much. You would've hoped for better on those, add in Da Costa to that too from the previous window.
