God only knows what attracted him to us because under Fawaz, after Doughty and all the way back to Wray and Scholar it was a pathetically run club. We were dross of the pitch as well as on it. Karaknka inherited a club not on its knees but on its back taking its last breath. He tried to breath life back into during the window and we escaped relegation again. The club was still crap at the end of last season. Marinakis hadnt had time to sort thing out by then and neither had Karanka. In that resepct, I believe he has inherited some results of the previous owners and managers.
I would bet my house on us not going down this season. Any takers on that? But you must bet your house against me if we stay up. Didnt think anybody would take me that but perhaps a few would have last season or the season before that. In fact, I wouldnt have offered the bet. See we arent going down this season and we will most likely finish in the top ten. Im happy with that sort of progress and furthermore, Im convinced we are going to see improved performances. I would like to think in the next few home games we are going to have a much improved and optimistic feel on here.
Nottingham Post fan quotes:
Gareth D: “An away point and being the better side against a team relegated from the PL who will be around the top-six is not a bad result, especially with two very winnable home games coming up”.
Rory Lomax: “Just watched the highlights...Ben Osborn has to be taking one of them chances!”
Martin Day: “Cracking result away from home. Dominated the ball and had the better chances. Roll on Wednesday under the lights and on TV."
Scott Simpson: “If you can’t win don’t lose, another good away point COYR”
Steve: “Janko played well today, Osborn should have scored a few, Hef and Fox looked solid.”
Mr Ridley: “A point and a clean sheet against Swansea and by the sounds of it much improved, nothing to moan about!”
God plays the Guv'nor.
It was slightly over a year ago that Forest weren't 'fit for purpose.' (Escaping relegation by the glove of Smith...ironic. It's now Ipswich fans who wanted McCarthy out and prop up the table.)
Forest finished top of the bottom 8 last season. They're higher than that now with a mere win capable of elevating them higher 8-10th at a very early point in the season.
A top 8-10 finish would represent real, measurable progress. A flirt with the top 6 would be a bonus.
