Looking at the scenario above (which I DON'T think will happen), if we couldn't beat either Rotherham or the Wendies at our place, nor Blackburn, if we'd then gone 33 games under Karanka, amassing a mere 36 points, borderline relegation form for the equivalent of 3/4 of a season, 10 games in to this season, sitting in the relegation zone, on 11 points or less, knowing we'd have to hit autos form for the rest of the season to even hope to look at the top 6, knowing we'd spent such a significant amount, to secure no tangible progress, & by then having seen only 3 wins in the previous 21 fixtures, the majority of the rest being negative, dour & uninspiring displays that included our longest goal drought ever, then I suggest whilst there might not by a line of people wanting to see us return to the managerial merry-go-round, I also think there would be a large level of understanding & a sense of inevitability & outside of a few, disappointed by the outcome, there would not actually be much toxicity.
If he'd had no time, been winning a lot, playing attractive football, suffered a freak injury crisis, we were broke & living off kids, or there were legitimate mitigation I could see more toxicity, but this would be a purely results based one & we can all see the results.
However this should all be hypothetical as we can surely beat at least one of the next 3, shouldn't we?
My money says we can get a result here.
Time Will tell.
We’ll see, I think a large number of fans that have come back this year expect success and I don’t recall the last time we changed manager mid-season that materially pushed us forward in that same season.
If the season peters out again a lot of these people will probably never return.
