It wasn’t clear to me what the plan was. I wasn’t upset by Colback, Yates and Arter, I kind of expected it and could see why you would play it given their threat. But I thought the plan would be to get the upper hand in midfield, and maybe use Colback in a 4-1-4-1 guarding the space in between the lines.

Instead we seemed to concede possession, have Yates and Colback both drop deep and lack cohesion with our other midfielders, but still leave them space to receive passes behind them. And was Arter supposed to be a no 10?

Just usual cliched responses in the post match interview. Really not sure what the plan actually was.

The plan was to keep it tight and look to nick it on the break or from a set piece. The goal after 2 minutes was a big blow to the plan. 

The thing is, we were up against a far better team. They only narrowly missed out on staying up last season and still have a wealth of Premier League talent in their squad. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and acknowledge they were better than us.

Yes, we played a midfielder instead of an attacker, but what tactics do we employ? You could try to wrest possession of the ball by overloading midfield, not be able to create much yourself but at least prevent them from having it. You could willingly concede the majority of possession and play a low block and look to counter. You could man mark a player like Brooks even. A bit of insight into what he's asked his players to do and how he thinks it'll get us the result is what I'd like.
